The whole community is invited to promote awareness for the Missing & Murdered Indigenous People walk which will start outside of the school at 3:30PM-5PM. The participants will walk around the town and will proceed to end at the City Complex with spaghetti, cupcakes and juice. The Yupik Woman’s Coalition and the Emmonak Women’s Shelter will partner together in this activity handing out posters and a handful of t-shirts for any who engage in this event. All Alaskans have the right to safety and justice, and stop the missing and murdered Indigenous persons (MMIP). Join the call for a greater response to the crisis of MMIP. *UPDATE: WE HAD TO RESCHEDULE DUE TO WINTER STORM WARNING*The Y.W.C. staff are working to promote a 2 day engagement for the Sexual Assault Conference in Emmonak, and are welcoming the leaders of the 13 villages we serve to our event. The dates of this activity is April 16 & 17, 2024. We hope this message will reach out to all of you, and notice our action against Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence. The Emmonak Women’s Shelter will participate and share their services along with our Law Enforcement, AKNWRC (Alaska Native Women’s Resource Center), MMIW USA (Missing & Murdered Women, USA), and ICWA (Indian Child Welfare Act). The S.A. Conference agenda is being developed and will be passed out to all that’ll be attending. Enjoy your day, and keep updated of our occasion.
